General Summary:
Installs, maintains, and tests various types of central offices and Telecommunications electronics. Directly responsible for voice, data, video, and core electronics used to deliver all of Wabash’s services. Monitors and resolves all network and Central Office issues, and assists the Network Engineering Supervisor with projects as needed.
Essential CO Tech Job Functions:
- Maintains digital Central Office equipment, routers, OLTs, rectifiers, batteries, alarm systems, DWDM, and C15 voice switch. Assists in the installation, service, and removal of Central Office facilities and equipment.
- Repairs Central Office equipment by performing diagnostic tests to locate trouble and performing necessary repairs using mechanical and electrical power tools and equipment.
- Ensures functionality of newly installed Central Office equipment by performing acceptance tests as appropriate.
- Ensures quality service by monitoring quality of all services delivered (i.e., data, voice, video).
- Provides customer service by receiving and resolving trouble reports. Completes appropriate reports and records and forwards information to the appropriate departments.
- Assists Install & Repair Technicians with troubleshooting as needed.
Essential Network Technician Job Functions:
- Assists the network engineer.
- Installs, supports, and maintains servers or other computer systems.
- Plans and responds to service outages and other problems.
- Follows IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Config and monitor CISCO core – DWDM – CALIX – VM Servers, etc.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.*

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent plus specialized training in electronics. One to two years’ experience in Central Office/Plant operations is also required. Experience with Windows, Linux/Unix, remote access, storage appliances, Cisco router, switch, and firewall configuration, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, LDAP, and ECM is necessary. Microsoft System Administrator, Systems Engineer, and Cisco Network Certifications are desired.
