Regular Hours: 6 am – 4:30 pm, Mon-Th

Status: Full-time

Pay Range: $24.89 – $28.38

Job Summary:              

Operate machinery in burying new fiber and service drops at customer locations.  Assist with the maintenance and repair of existing fiber facilities.  Generally responsible for routine care and scheduling maintenance of assigned equipment.

Duties: 

  • Places direct buried cable and conduit by operating plowing, directional boring, digging and trenching equipment
  • Bury service drops at customer locations
  • Maintains heavy equipment by performing or scheduling routine and emergency maintenance
  • Assists in maintaining buried cable by splicing, testing and repairing cable
  • Installs Central Office feeder and distribution cables
  • Installs protectors and demarcation devices at subscriber premises in accordance with RUS and company standards
  • Performs related construction tasks as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid CDL driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of communications plant and line construction procedures.
  • Skill in operating various heavy machinery and construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating /maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
